Hi Chris,
Thanks for your question.
It sounds like you would be a great candidate for an upgrade to version 6.2. We have a new feature that allows users to create alias names for different applications. This would allow you to create a set of alternative names and apply them to the devices (RCP, Multiviewers etc) where you want to see them.
Here is a link to the user guide, take a look at page 42 for more information on Aliases.

If you are interested in an upgrade, just send technical support an email with the type of ultrix you have (frame size and cards) and we will send you the upgrade files.

Subject: RCP-QE18 Custom Labels for LCD Buttons
Greetings,
Coming from an older installation of an NV9K I had the ability to assign a source or destination to a given LCD button and then change its name to something more 'operator friendly'.
My use case is pretty simple; I have 12 IPTV recievers called USCNET 1 thru -12 with each being tuned to a given channel (KTLA, KNBC, CNN & etc.). I'd like to modify the button names to use the channel name instead of the IRD name. I know that I can rename the IRD sources on the router to the service currently tuned but that introduces its own set of complications.
I've read through the documentation for this panel (which also includes the QE36) but can't see to find anything related to giving a button an arbitrary name.
