  • 1.  Xpression Data Source Columns - Accessing in Visual Logic and/or hiding a published text field

    Posted 23 days ago

    Hi All-

Is there anyway to access a Data Source/Static Text Column in Visual Logic (for example the Hex Code Column below).  I'd like producers to be able to select a color (RED, BLUE or GRAY) and then the HEX CODE will change the Diffuse color.  I can't seem to find a way to directly access the "column" text in VL.  I know you can assign it to another published item, but then the template gets really messy for producers, where they see all these "extra" text fields.  And I don't see a way to "hide" a published text field either. Any ideas?  This would be for an elections state or county map for example.

    Good morning,

What version of XPression are you running?

In v10.5 and higher, there is a ShowInTemplateData Visual Logic Block that will allow you to hide published objects in the Sequence or XPression Plugin

If your color choices are fixed, you could also set the Hex Code in Visual Logic without using the 2nd column. The following example is using the new String Match and String  Selector blocks in 11.5 and higher, but you could also do the same thing using a combination of String Compare and Input Selector blocks in 11.0 and lower
