Carbonite tally over TSL to Panasonic UCU-600 CCU's.

Anyone attempt or have any success with tally over ethernet from a Carbonite Ultra to Panasonic UCU-600 CCU's?   From what I can tell, the Ultra only outputs TSL 3.0 and the CCU's only listen in 5.0.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you.

You will need a tally management system to bridge them or look for something else that will convert the protocols.

    Justin,

did you get any further with getting TSL into the Panasonic UCU-600 CCU's.

I can see in a firmware update for the CCU's that they brought in IP-Tally but I wasn't sure if this was only for UCU-600 with the IP card in them.

We have the same "issue" with the UCU-600; no body seems to be able to tell us what that "IP TALLY" function actually is.
The IP TALLY features is not even mentioned in the manual.

Have you tried testing with a TSL controller?

    Hi All

Ive just been told that the UCU-600 does support TSLv5 tally's over IP. (Even without AK-NP600 IP board.)

So Les....no that a year has passed, does Carbonite support TSLv5?....or is coming?

I got the UCU600 up and running with TSL 5.0 a few weeks ago!

For the UCU600's you'll of course need a firmware that is new enough.
We have the TSL Tallyman TM2-MKII and I've only got this to work adding a multiviewer, setting the IP to the IP of the UCU600, protocol to UDP and port set on page two in the Network menu of the UCU600.

Then you add two windows to the multiviewer; first window will have address 0, the second address 1.
You can delete the first window so only the one with address 1 is kept. You'll need to do this, as the UCU600 doesn't support address 0.

Then you basically just add tally as with any other multiviewer window in the Tallyman system.

I honestly don't expect this to work directly with a Carbonite.
I've also tested with TCP protocol and multicast UDP - no luck at all.

it's on the list to be done... we do have an TSI product line that can do the tally management for those.

    Hello everyone,

2 years passed since the last answer to this topic…

we just get an Ultrix Acuity and we operate Panasonic UCU 600… we don't have any other controllers except dashboard. Of course it was easy fro get the tally on ultriscapre layout ( even if I can't get rid of the yellow tally when 2 sources are selected simultaneously on PGM and PVW… I would like the red tally take over in this case at least change the yellow color to red)

but do you have a procedure to get tally into ucu 600 via network and tsl ?

    Best regards

If the U600 supports TSL version 5 then it should work.. Ultrix Acuity you can setup more than one TSL Sender and set it to TCP or UDP.

As for the MV colors those are following the standard ...  What you can do is now with version 12.2 and after of Ultrix Acuity you can change the PGM SLOTS and pick what is sent to which Bit.. you can then define the bits from which pgm and pv chains.

    Hello guys,

We had the same setup - but with a TSL TallyMan in between.
    Panasonics UCU600 TSL support is rather undocumented, but I spend a day getting it to work with the tallyman - and here is a few hints;

Setup 1 connection from the Tallyman (or Ultrix) to each UCU600 you have.
Protocol should be TSL 5.0 and UDP to port 62000.

TSL 5.0 is display based - and display 0 which is default in Tallyman as the first PIP/windows/UMD is NOT used by the UCU600.
UCU600 uses display 1. In Tallyman I just created a second display that automatically got ID 1 and then I deleted the first one.
No clue how to do this in Ultrix or Acuity, but maybe Les can add here.

Here is a screenshot from our Tallyman on how we routed the tallies to get them right.
I have no access to an Ultrix/Acuity anymore as I've sold my company, I'm just trying to share knowledge and give you hints :-)

Great update Andreas thank you, but wait - you sold your company! If you are heading to NAB make sure you stop by and give us the low down :).

Thank you Andreas ! I'll test as soon as I can but without the Tallyman...

The Configuration contains all of these elements ... being able to change the Screen is not an issue.  My concern here though is that you will need on the Panasonic side to be able to pick which ID it is supposed to track.  The Switcher has a fixed TSL IDs for the I/O.  You can set the Offset to shift them by 10K IDs at a time but you can not alter individual IDs.

The config doc that also has the tables is located here:
