FinishLynx and Xpression

Anybody have experience getting results from Finishlynx into Xpression? Rumor has it I will have some sort of data feed available to me, but I have no idea what that will entail. I am planning on talking to the timing folks tomorrow, but having sample data would give me a head start.

FinishLynx used to have a scoreboard output (the file was called ChyronST.LSS) that would write W\ commands to a CII interface. They used this to output results to Chyron.
The last time I talked to the guys at Finishlynx though, they didn't really claim to support this anymore. You might want to ask Finishlynx directly about the Chryon LSS interface.

Have you got an XPression license for CII gateway?

It's possible they've come up with newer methods of interfacing to CG's though; and might be able to output XML or something by now.

Looks like we do have the CII gateway license.

Rumor has it that the timing folks will give me an IP feed and a .dsc file for DataLinq which will get us starters/results/splits and the clock. I was expecting to have to write some middleware, but it sounds like they're one step ahead of me.

I'll talk to them tomorrow and report back.

Looks like the rumors were true, they provided me a .dsc file for DataLinq which gives me both results and clock. I'll talk to them more tomorrow to see how this came about.

Is it using an ASCII datalinq source?

It is. Haven't had a chance to talk to them yet, but everything seems to be working as expected.

Talked to the timing folks and they gave me a couple details on what they had done. If any of the Ross folks are interested, call/email me and I can provide information.

I'd be interested in knowing how this was configured; and getting a copy of the LSS script being used on the finishlynx system if they are willing to share it.

We're supposed to stream our conference XC championships in about 3 weeks, did you happen to get a copy of this script that I can use? Or  any advice? Thanks!

Hi Jay, We are looking at covering an event that uses this system and they display using Relustv. How did you make out with this? Are you able to share anydetails?

Thanks- yes, Ross Tech Support helped me figure out the ASCII data capture. It was a bit of a manual process figuring out the fields, start byte, length and that sort of thing, but I'm happy to share the scripts and datalinqs. Once they got that figured out, it worked pretty well. We had a bit of a display issue every now and then where results would display funny, but then fix themselves. That was entirely due to lack of time to really test and configure it. The race was Saturday morning, we got results working the Friday night before at 7pm, so we went with it.  I would recommend doing a bit more testing before hand :-)  I tried zipping and uploading what I show as the latest versions, try those & let me know.

We had to enable data logger in the ascii datalinq setup to see what we were getting from the timing & scoring feed, and eventually were able to figure out how to capture the data.

    Thanks, hope that helps!
