  • 1.  Scene Manager Thumbnails with Datalinq VL Blocks

We have a project that is using a datalinq visual logic block to populate text objects. The text objects display properly on both Sequencer preview and Virtual Output but they do NOT consistently create a proper Scene Manager thumbnail. We've set a proper Preview Frame marker in the default scene director, we've tried using refreshDatalinqs scripts, we've used Regenerate Thumbnails, and nothing seems to provide a consistent result. Any ideas?

I think it's probably intentional that Scene Thumbnail Renders don't trigger Datalinq refreshes. Most likely to cut down on unnecessary use of resources and keep the GUI as fast as possible.

Why do you want your scene thumbnails to display dynamic Datalinq data?

The thumbnail generates correctly when the DataLinq is feeding a text object directly. It is when we use Visual Logic DataLinq blocks that the thumbnail doesn't update as desired. We are using DataLinq VL blocks for our election graphics as it solves a complex problem for us, but we would prefer for the thumbnail to work the same as it does with the standard DataLinq method so that producers can see the type of graphic they are opening populated with data from an election that has already passed as the default.

We have found that if we first: Refresh a DataLinq'd Text Object in the scene tree, second: Disable the VL tab containing the Visual Logic DataLinq blocks, and third: Regenerate All Thumbnails, then we can get the desired result on the current Thumbnail, afterwards remembering to Enable the VL tab in question. The problem with this, however, is that it blows out the Thumbnails for the other scenes in the project if they also have VL DataLinq blocks. It would be great if there was an option to Regenerate just one thumbnail. Please let us know if there is another way to get the correct image in the Thumbnail when using VL DataLinq blocks. Thanks.
