  • 1.  GVG Protocol responses from Ultrix

I'm working on a touchscreen webpanel created in Medialon to control an Ultrix router.  I've got the GVG protocol working with it, but I was wondering if it was possible to get the Ultrix to send status responses upon receiving a command.  In consulting the Ultrix manual, it seems like this may be defaulted to off since the Ultrix doesn't require configuration for GVG as it's always running a server on port 12345? Also, does anyone know if the protocol supports power status/communication monitoring? Any help is appreciated.  Thanks

    Hi Jacob,

That is correct the GVG native protocol does not require an Ack.

You can use the probel SW-08 protocol which does specify an acknowledgement command.. The Ultrix will respond with a 10 06 in SW-08

The router protocol does not support power or frame status monitoring however we do have an SNMP license available for Ultrix if you wish to monitor it that way.

Thanks.  I'll stick with GVG as it's working and has been flawless so far.  I guess I was wondering if an echo setting for the GVG protocol needed to be configured in Ultrix so it would send back what was received.  In any case, thank you.

Just wanted to follow up as I was able to get command acknowledgement working by enabling the BK parameter to "on" as stated in the Ultrix manual.  I sent:

    01 52 30 42 4B 09 45 09 4f 4e 46 44 04

and get responses for every accepted command now.  When you connect to the Ultrix, you must establish this as it defaults to off.
