    Hi,

I'm looking for a way to retrieve exhaustive and detailed logs from Ultrix (crosspoint connections infos, PSU status, fan status, ...).

For example, i'd like to know which crosspoints was made at a specific date and time.

I already know that you can see some logs through Ultrix web interface but it requires a constant refresh and it's impossible to have access to logs older than few minutes.

    Thanks in advance.

    Guillaume.

    Hi Guillaume,

You can find the log files by navigating to the Ultrix ip address in a web page

Click on the system logs link

    Then Select download.

In the zipped Log files you will find the following:

TLS, GVGnative, NVision and Probel external: a file named “thirdpartypackets.log” where you can find all of the External router commands.

Routes: There is also a "rip_packets0.log" where you can find all of the routes that were made. (search for the word route)

Alarm information:  "rip_packets0.log" Search for the word Alarm

We are implementing a new Audit.log in a future build that will give you a clearer indication of the routes that were made without having to parse through all the Rip_packets0.log files.this should be available in the next few months.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey Mike,

Thanks for your feedback and informations, it's gladly appreciated !

    Just few more questions ;

    - Does these files have a size limit ?

    - What's the logging period of these files ?

    - Are they lost on reboot ?

I also contacted support in order to have more informations regarding "message" logs files and the way they works (especially for Ultrix / MC1 and AAP cards).

    Thanks again :).

The Log files have a maximum size and get rolled over once the size is attained. Rip_Packets are about 5k and the messages file are approximately 200k. your system size and activity will determine how long the logs last.

Rebooting the system causes the logs to be re-written.
