  • 1.  Does the Xpression have a feature that lets you see a preview of the clip that is loaded in the monitor wall output?

We are transitioning from the Chyron Xclyps to the Ross Xpression and one of the features i've been unable to duplicate on the ross is a "preview clip frame" option or the loaded video. some sort of group ID number or something would suffice. ii work in a live show fast paced environment that sometimes fires 5 clips a minute and i don't have time to check all my machines to make sure that what i loaded is actually there, incase something got pulled or a port crashed or something. i want to be able to look at my monitor wall and be assured that the clip is loaded and ready to go. Is this feature available in the Xpression clip options or output options or settings that I can't find? Thanks in advance for you help.

XPression can do Up Next Preview and/or Per Channel Preview.
Any framebuffer can be assigned for preview. SDI or Virtual.
If you use an SDI output for preview, you can no longer use it as an output channel.
Since most people don't want to lose an SDI output channel to do preview instead a virtual output is used.
Virtual outputs show up right on the desktop alongside the XPression software.
You can take a virtual output and put it full screen onto a second (or third) monitor on the XPression. Depending on the type of XPression hardware you have you will have spare DVI/HDMI or Display port outputs. You can take one of these spare outputs, convert it to SDI with a scan converter, and feed that into your Multi-Viewer or whatever.
Once you've placed a Virtual Output on a secondary or tertiary monitor it will always launch onto that desktop.

You can configure the preview channels in Hardware Setup > Preview & Monitor
You can add as many virtual outputs as you want in the Input/Outputs tab.
You can assign up next preview or per channel preview, you probably do not want to assign both, but decide which style of preview suits your needs.

I've attached a picture as well.

How are you playing the clips on XPression Clips?
Are you recalling the clips using a switcher/overdrive.
Are you using the Sequencer(playlist) in XPression Clips?
Or are you using the fast recall function in the XPression Clips Clip Browser?

That option doesn't show up on our version. We're on Xpression Clips 6.2, build 3483. Is there a newer version?
Our Options tab only shows "Cue video directly to framebuffer."

That option is in the official 6.5 release of XPression.
