Export Item to Video

    Hello,

Since I started making all of my graphics with transition logic, I've haven't been able to save graphics from my sequence as video. Before, I used to be able to right click>export take item to>video>mov file. Now, when I go to do it... it says the render is complete but when I go to look at the file it does create it but it's 0kb. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Or did something change, is there another way to save them now? I've tried different kinds of files already.

    Thank you.

It sounds like a bug actually..XPression version and build #?
You're doing this on Ross Video hardware or customer supplied?

    Vinz's methord will work though!

Add a new framebuffer "avi recorder".

All takeitems you'll play on this FB will be recorded in a file. Prefer Xpression codec !

    Xpression v6.1 build 3437

We were able to do it before we got the 6.1 upgrade.

Edit > Hardware Setup > Add > AVI Recorder > Output Setting > Fill Mode: Shaped or Unshaped

That adds an 'AVI Output' framebuffer. Set your sequencer take items to the AVI Output framebuffer and when the first item is sent to it a window will pop up and request a destination and settings.

This will create a single AVI file of anything sent to the AVI Output Framebuffer.

It can be quite resource intensive. You probably won't be able to record to it and output graphics at the same time.

Ok, that could work for now. But anyway I can keep saving files through right clicking>Export Take Item> Video?

I have tired your steps garner. I have the AVI recorder listed in the Input/output but 'AVI recorder' will now show up in my framebuffer list. Anyone have this issue?

    Hi Mildred,

Currently the "export to video" simply exports what is on the main scene director. If you create a blank animation controller on your main scene director you will get an export of the duration of that blank anim controller. This will not however play the scene directors which you have built for the transition logic.

This is something that will be improved in XPression 6.2. It will play the transition logic as you would expect it to.

Thanks for your response Brian. That's exactly what the issue is, anything built with transition logic is not saving. Thanks for the update, that totally makes sense!
