  • 1.  Date widget in Xpression

    Hello all, I hope you can help me.

    I've been receiving complaints about the fact that the date on our newscast is abbreviated rather than spelled out and has unnecessary 0s before the single digits days, ie:

    MAR 05, 2014 rather than

    MARCH 5, 2014

    Obviously we would rather continue to use the date widget to update automatically rather than inputting it manually every day.

    What are my options for adjusting this?

    Hi Brittany,

    Set your Widget format to this:

    MMMM D, YYYY

    4 M's means spell out the month entirely,

    3 M's will use an abbreviated month

    DD will prepend all dates with leading 0's to form two digits

    D will simply show the date with one or two digits when necessary.

    Is there a way to put the weekday in there as well? Eg. Wednesday, March 5 (no year)

    no worries I found a way:

    http://www.techotopia.com/index.php/Working_with_Dates_and_Times_in_Visual_Basic

    DDDD, MMMM D = Friday, March 7

    And in case anyone needs this, here is the full date (if leading 0s are not a problem)

    DDDDDDD = Friday, March 07, 2014
