I have used datalinq with textfiles (.csv) for a roll group. I now have individual thirds in a manual group and am using excel. Before I used the column and %relid% to have the text change (see first image). Does this relid not work with excel datalinq's? Is there a better code to use? I'll have multiple thirds with sequential id's in the group (see second image).

%relid% will work with the ADODB datalinq which can be used to read from excel sheets.

Watch the datalinq Part 1,2,3 videos here for details: http://xpression.rossvideo.com/videos/

@bford Everytime I use a macro with Excel datalinq it fails and brings back nothing. If I use a csv and text datalinq it works. I watched the video but %relid% fails with my excel datalinq.

Have you tried the ADODB datalinq like in the videos? I'm not sure if the Excel datalinq supports it.

ADODB works, so Excel datalinq doesn't support macros?

It doesn't support all of them.

The ADODB connection is actually a much better way to connect to Excel files than the Excel connection. Anything the Datalinq Excel connection can do the ADODB connection can do better.

Is there any documentation on how to set up the adodb?  at the moment I'm using a rather larger excel sheet and converting it to a tab delimited text file.  We don't have excel on the computer housing the xpression so I was told the excel file won't work there.  but I have't had any luck initiating the adodb on that computer.
