Has anyone had success simulating glass on a 3d object either on an Xpression primitive or on an imported 3d object? I want headshots to look as if they are backed by a glass plate with beveled edges.

    Hey Malcolm,

I already had some succes using the texture below, which I copied from a demo-project of Ross :-)

    Try if this works?

    Cheers,

    Kenneth

apply this as a reflection map or as a material. The look I am after is a transparent quad with little depth, beveled edges and specular highlights along any edge.

As a material. You might have to play a bit with the alpha.

I just made a glass plate in photoshop and dropped it in as a material with shader for use here. I haven't tried making a material from scratch in XPression, but I'll take a look at what Kenneth posted.

Dan, given that glass is transparent, what does your material look like? perhaps something about 10% opacity?

That's the image I use. I vary the opacity and specular lighting depending on the scenes' needs. I use that all over the place; for sports, elections, anytime I need something thrown in. If you were to combine a reflection map with it, it would probably work pretty even better.
