I have a graphic(video) that builds up from left to right with a wipe in the picture.

on this graphic I have placed a text.

This text should not be displayed with a simple dissolve.... it should be displayed per wipe like the graphic from left to right in the picture.

is there a kind of mask that I can animate that affects only the text and not the graphics?

-Create a new layer object and place your text inside.

-Create a new quad and also place it in your layer object.

-Create a new material. Change it's blending mode to 'Alpha Mask'. Apply it to the quad.

-Animate the quad.

That should mask out only the text.

Is it possible to add a soft border to the quad ?

For this you have to use an image as mask with your soft border designed in it and when you create your material, choose Mask/Image.
