I can automate the lower third length by parenting it's length to the text size.

However I got two texts: a name and a function/title.

I want the lower third to get the length of whatever text is the longest.

So far I tried very complex techniques where the texts would change the size of additive mattes, but I just don't understand the way XPression does this. It's no After Effects unfortunately.

Does anyone have a solution? I can't write scripts and since support is not at home I do not have the latest version where you can connect certain object parameters to affect other object parameters.

What version are you running now? This is very easy to do with Visual Logic, in version 5+.

If you provide me the serial number of your XPression unit I can see when your warranty expired. You qualify to upgrade to any version that was released when you were in warranty.

We have a full blown service thingy here. It's just that our technicians don't want to upgrade because of problems that are bound to pop up with connected systems for all kinds of automation. So we can't just use the newest version unfortunately.

If you don't have visual logic we will need to write a script.
