    We are broadcasting basket-ball on the french island La Reunion this sommer and they use an Bodet scoreboard BT6000.

    We talk with this french manufacturer, they send data from scoreboard with an RS 232 port out... And that's all. French are on hollydays. So they are not very fast to help us...

    We see data on the com port but we are not abble to match with an datalinq configuration (as OES or daltonisme source).

    Does anybody have ever work with an Bodet Scoreboard or have an idea for helping us ?

    What do you thanks about sniffing the com port for live generating an txt file and after linking this file and xpression ?

    We do not have a driver for this scoreboard, so you will not be able to use the existing scoreboard data source drivers in the Datalinq Server.

    You may be able to use the ASCII Datalinq Source to decode the data coming from the scoreboard, but you would have to create the protocol interpretation yourself field by field.

    Since you have provided me with the protocol doc, we can get this added to the XPression development queue. However, I cannot confirm when this would be implemented. It would be at least several months before it could be added.

    Hello Espie & Garner,

    I've also received the question by a client to develop some basketball-software to generate graphics which is integrated with the Bodet and Nownet-protocols.

    I've contacted Bodet but haven't had any response yet on my question about a possible api or documentation of the protocol.

    So if you could forward that protocol information to me, that would be very helpful to me.

    Depending on when you need this I might be able to help you out as well?

    It has been 7 years since this discussion, so is there now an integration between Bodet BT6000 and Datalinq & XPression/Tessera or has someone used it with the ASCII Datalinq source?

    I am asking, because a FIBA Basketball World Cup match will be played next month here in Tampere at Nokia Arena and the Bodet BT6000 will be used as the game clock. This will be the first basketball game at Nokia Arena.

    At the same time I would like to ask if anyone has implemented the integration between FIBA's Broadcast Feed (TV feed) or FIBA's Live Stream API Service and Datalinq & XPression/Tessera?

    Hello - XPression development work for Bodet scoreboard support has not yet been scheduled. I can't provide a timeline for this development at this time. 

    I can't find any information about a FIBA Broadcast Feed in our feature requests list or support inquiries. I don't believe we've been asked about this data source before.

    OK. I will try to use the ASCII Datalinq Source to get data from the Bodet.

    Your support told that one other customer had asked the FIBA API previously, but it was determined they needed to build a application that takes the feed and writes it to a JSON file. So I desided to do similar and wrote PHP script, that will read FIBA API and write all read JSON messages to several different JSON files depending on message type, so I can use those files then in Datalinq.

    It would be great if the future version of Datalinq could have some kind of "RSS / HTTP Datalinq Source" and "XML/JSON TCP Datalinq" combination source type, i.e. it would be like that HTTP version, but it would also allow use with constantly open connections, i.e. even if the other end does not close the TCP connection, but sends new JSON messages over it all the time. In that case, it would probably already be compatible with the FIBA API. Now Datalinq does not work with FIBA API.

    Hi,

    There is a TCP connection option for DataLinq in newer versions of XPression. I am using that to feed clock data into XPression (for example from scoreboards). It works with JSON and/or XML and can act both as a TCP server and a TCP client.

    For the FIBA tv-feed I do believe you need to send a initial request command on the TCP connection before it starts sending out data (where you tell it which data you want). At least that is how I remember it from when I made my interface software. If so, I am not sure you can do that using DataLinq?

    Indeed, XML/JSON over a TCP Socket is part of the current XPression v10.5 release. 



    In a few months we will also be adding support for secure web sockets to our 1v1.1 beta branch after the release of v11.0 in a couple of weeks.

    I've used this Datalinq source as well, but this doesn't work with the FIBA API, but as I suggested it could work if Ross combine certain parts from another source type (HTTP). So the need would be to open this continous connection with a URL and enable authentication and custom headers with it.

    I looked at the Bodet BT6000 protocol, and the settings in DataLinq Server for the ASCII protocol. I think there will be some challenges using that to read the clock. The only way I could see it work would be to pass the whole received package as a single field into XPression, and then using a script to parse it. Because the clock is sending out differently formatted packages for different content, and you will probably need at least a few of them. I cannot find a way to handle different packages in the ASCII protocol directly.

    Bodet Scorepad will be added to XPression Datalinq in a beta version of XPression is the next 2-3 weeks. The first supported sport will be Hockey and the next sport we will add support for will be Basketball.

    Bodet scorepad (Basketball) has been added to XPression v11.1 beta build 5770. At this time, we don't recommend that customers with Project Server in their workflows upgrade to version 11.1 beta.
