  • 1.  Migrating files from Avid Deko to Xpression

    Posted 03-17-2015 15:09
    Hello,

We have recently purchased 3 new Xpression CG's and were very new to its operations. We would like to transfer our files from the Deko into the Xpression. Most of these files are lower thirds with text. I was able to move the lower third template into Xpression saving the file as a tga, but the Xpression places it on a slightly higher vertical line. Does anyone have a method of transferring a large group of files between the 2 platforms and why is the xpression placing the graphic on a higher vertical line???

Thanks for the help in advance????

If you are in 1080i mode, and the output of XPression is raised by one line; try setting the Vertical Timing Offset in the Hardware Matrox setup to 1124 instead of the default of 0. This should drop the output by one line.

Brian, we are operating in SD mode for now at 720 x 486. I did try your suggestion to no avail. The vertical timing offset is on the board tab under Matrox correct? FYI we are using the Ross crossovers for switchers in 2 control areas and the Miranda NV 5100 for master control. We tried patching our xpression into the NV 5100 and are not seeing the key signal?

The 1124 timing offset in the Matrox card will not work if you are in SD. It would be best if you could get a waveform monitor and time the XPression output with house reference using the timing offsets in the 'Board' tab of the Matrox card configuration.

You are connecting to SDI output A for Fill and SDI output C for Key?

I am having the same issue I think.

I have some full screen images. But when outputted to the Matrox framebuffer (also in SD squeeze mode) the top part of the video is transparant. While in layout modus it is not.

I tried adjusting the timing offsets in the board settings but nothing happens (apart from a blink when adjusting).

    Running version 5.9 3134

    Garner,

Thanks for your insight. We changed some values in the Horizontal & Vertical Timing under the Matrox board tab and now we are able to see the graphic on our Miranda switcher!

Niek, Im not sure if you are migrating from Deko too, but we just came to the conclusion the Deko must be squeezing the files during the export or saving process from Deko file to TGA file. We created a full screen graphic within the Xpression and did not have a problem with the graphic filling the whole screen! Not sure if any the file formats from deko would act differently, tif, jpeg, etc

Brian, Just a quick update I changed to custom mode 720 x 540 in order to bring in the targa file from Deko which corrected the squeezing issue we were having.
