Hi,

I'd like to find a script that can be added to a take item to perform the following:

Cut off all layers on FB1 simultaneously with a direct cut on next take item

Ex: In a sequence, I may have a series of 10 graphics that add to 10 different layers on FB1 sequentially. The script would be embedded in next take item to clear all that is on the output of FB1 with a direct cut to this take item.

Is there a way, or a better way to do this?

Any assistance is appreciated. :)

Try this in the OnOnline script of the scene you want to clear the others..

It loops over layers -10 to +10 and clears any scene on a layer (other than the layer the new scene just went online on).

Thanks for the quick response. I'm using the same scene for all of these graphics and I wouldn't want that scene to execute the script every time. Is there a way to add a script into a specific take item instead of the scene? I thought of duplicating the scene and adding the script to that scene - but I'm using transition logic as well. Other possibility is a hot key to do this? I can't seem to get the script to work, but I may also be doing something wrong. Please excuse me, as I'm very new to Xpression.

Okay, I just got it working in a different scene but transition logic went out the window.

I have to play with this some more.

If you want a keyboard hotkey to do this you could make a keyboard hotkey that clears the framebuffer and plays the current focused take item from the sequencer. You would do this in the keyboard mapping menu and create a 'group' with two actions in it, clear framebuffer, and take. Then set the group to run all children actions. I'm not in front of XPression right now but I could try to post a screenshot of how to do it. If you go to the XPression U site you will find a video tutorial on how the keyboard mapping menu works and how to create hotkeys to perform multiple actions.

I killed all the transition logic and simplified everything and your script works when I have a special scene for whatever may be the last graphic in the run. I was hoping I could put online script into a take item instead of the scene - for speed and flexibility on the fly.

I'm still keeping something on layer -20 so the 'clear framebuffer/take' into a hot key won't work in this situation. Is there a way to take the 'OnOnline' script and have it work in the 'OnKeyPress'? I was trying that - but it wasn't liking what I did.

In OnKeypress you could use this:

And put that OnKeypress script into a keyboard hotkey group with a Take Current Focused item function. The script just clears everything from -10 to +10.. This is a bit different than the OnOnline script where we wanted it to clear everything except the layer where the new take item was just put online..

If you want a script on a specific instance of a Take item, you could create a hidden object and publish its visibility property to the sequencer. Then in the OnOnline script you would just check that object and if it is visible you perform the script action you want, otherwise you don't. You can then choose on a per take item basis to run it or not by clicking the visibility check box for that item in the sequencer..

So the script would have a check like this:
