  • 1.  XPression Extended Keyboard Issue

    Good afternoon,
We just upgraded our laptops to the new HP ZBook, and it came with a tiny docking station that connects to the machine via a combined thunderbolt/power cable. When plugging the XPression keyboard into the docking station, the only thing that happens is the CAPS, Fast Recall and Num Lock lights will flash every second or so. When I plug the keyboard directly into the laptop, it works normally.

I don't know if it's a USB power issue, or something with the new docking station. I was just curious if anybody else had experienced this issue yet.

    Thanks!
    Brian

The XPression keyboard is quite power hungry. It's common for various types of USB extenders to not provide enough power for it, or it periodically drop connection to it. The XPression custom keyboard requires +5Vdc (+/- 0.25V) at 250mA-300mA. It's common for USB extenders to have a current as low as 100mA.

are there some recommended extenders? We have tried multiple options including units that are powered at the keyboard end but none of them will work with the Xpression keyboard.
Suggestions for successful solutions will be appreciated.
