I have a Xpression graphic with Datalinq text fields. The record # that is used to pull in the data is a Datalinq Key variable. I can publish this and then inside Inception give the record number I'd like to see the data from. Upon playout the correct data is displayed. My question: is there a way to see this data populated into the plug-in's preview so that producers can see what will be displayed? Currently even after providing the variable "n" to the plug-in the info isn't pushed back to Inception to be visible. Any ideas are appreciated!!!

In your project you have the Datalinq Server list, where you add your Datalinq Server(s). Is yours set to 'localhost/127.0.0.1' or an IP address?
When your project is loaded onto the Preview Engine, which drives the previews in the plugins, the Preview Engine is going to try and connect to the Datalinq Server address that is stored in the project. If the Preview Engine can't find a Datalinq Server (with the correct Data sources) at the location that the project has saved then it won't be able to generate a preview frame with Datalinq content.

Try saving and publishing your project with the IP address of the Datalinq Server you are using in it.

This is a link to an XML page. I have set up the Datalinq connection on the Datalinq server (running on the Xpression Studio machine) with the IP address followed by the location of the xml page. I did notice at one point when I was trying different options for the link I mistakenly set a list to a Datalinq and when I published it I got an error in Inception that it couldn't receive data from "localhost" even though I haven't ever set up any of the Datalinq connections with "localhost."

Not the IP address of the data source, but the IP address of the Datalinq Server in the Project. See this image:

Dunno why my Imgur link isn't working. Here's the picture.

Ahhh. I see it now. I'll change that info and let you know how that works! If the Datalinq Server is running on the Xpression Studio I would put the IP of the Studio box, correct?

I changed the "localhost" to the IP address of the machine running the Datalinq server and published it. I can't get the previews to work still.

Can you try making a simple scene with just one Datalinq'd text object in it and publishing that and seeing if it previews in the plugin?
