  • 1.  Unable to Install Adobe CC6 on Xpression

I am unable to install a custom package of Adobe CC provided by my engineer. Our Windows 7 Xpression systems (one Prime and one Studio) are prohibited from connecting to the internet. The Adobe CC custom package was created because of this restriction. I was able to install Adobe CS 5 from a disc without issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installing editing software onto an on-air broadcast system is not recommended or a supported configuration for Ross Video products. It can negatively impact the performance of XPression software and in some circumstances effect the quality/reliability of the video output.

If you still wish to install the Adobe CS suite on your XPression system you should contact Adobe for help installing their software.

    Hi Garner,

Thanks for the reply. While I understand your explanation, I just don't understand why Ross would not support the installation of Photoshop on Expression. Photoshop is a dominant industry standard that supports and enhances the Expression experience. I feel it is necessary to have at the eh least Adobe Photoshop on every Expression box and am perplexed why it is not recommended. I feel it makes Expression better and I would be very surprised if the majority of Xpression users didn't have at least Photoshop installed on their Expression boxes. Anybody have anything to add or subtract? I may just need more information.

Thanks again for your response and your time.

It really has nothing to do with XPression. Photoshop has always been a huge memory hog on systems. I've worked for several other graphics manufacturers in the past, and we always discouraged customers from running Photoshop on their real-time graphics systems, if possible.

If you have to run it on an XPression, be sure you exit Photoshop before doing anything on air. Ideally, finish your work, exit the software, and reboot the machine, because even after closing the application it still seems to hang onto some resources.
