  • 1.  XPression - Exporting Take Items (General Questions)

    Posted 11-12-2014 14:42
    Hi all,

Another round of questions from yours truly:

    1. When exporting take items to video, is it possible to choose a custom amount of frames for static full screens? We use static full screens with looped background video files, and was wondering if there is an option to export these items to AVI with an editable amount of frames considering they are full screens with no animations other than a looping video in the background.

    2. What is the best compression codec, judging by what other people have used, from XPression to work with in Adobe CC (Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.)?

    3. Lastly, is it possible to export with transparency? We have introductions that fade out all materials and assets to alpha and are hoping if there are any errors that we can simple export these from XPression with fixes.

Thanks! This forum is a wonderful tool for new users!

You can't change the length of the video, it will match the length of the scene director, so you would need to make your scene director longer or shorter.

For best quality/size, many people actually export as Image Sequences using a PNG Sequence. These are lossless compression so the quality is perfect and file size is small enough; and as a benefit it retains the Alpha Channel.

In the latest beta versions, XPression can now export using the Quicktime encoder, so you could export as a Quicktime Animation Codec, or Quicktime PNG sequence wrapped up in an MOV file.
