  • 1.  How to Create A Mask?

    Hello,

I've searched through the topics, but not really found a good explanation on how to make a mask. What I have is image on a quad that I want to reveal with an animated mask. I assume I need to use a black/white video for the mask? How and where and what do I apply the animated mask video to? Thanks!

Also, how do you create a "Layer Object" ?

    Hi Chuck,

You can create a mask by setting a materials layer blending mode to 'Alpha Mask'.

    See this screen image:

Layer Objects can be created by selecting them from the Object Library. This will add a Layer Objet to the Object Manager of the Scene that is currently selected. You can drag and drop other objects into the layer object, exactly like you would a Group Object. Material Alpha masks applied to objects in a Layer Object will only mask the objects in that Layer Object.

    Thanks Garner...

    I'm using XPression Designer V3.21... :-(

There doesn't seem to be way to add a layer object in my version and I don't have the same options shown in your screen shot for making a mask.

Any help you can provide in creating a mask with my version? Thanks.

Sorry to bump this topic, but I'm under a short deadline! :-)

I'm running XPression Designer V3.21. Can someone help me create a mask using my version?

    Thanks

    Hi Chuck,

I believe for v3.21 you'll need to use the following settings for the layers blending properties:

    Blend Operation "“ ADD

    Source Factor "“ ZERO

You can also just rightclick in the material manager and choose New->Mask.
