    Hi, Les!

Now i'm configuring studio with Carbonite Studio Elite (carbonite 2me, SMS 1in/2out and eXpression SCE).

How should I configure Carbonite switcher for control SMS playout channels?

Can I use Ethernet connection for this option?

P.S. thanks for 6.1 firmware for Carbonite.

    Hi Ilya,

Hope all is well with you.

yes you can use Ethernet for control of both the SMS and the XPression.

make sure you download the setup guide for the XPression

    Thanks, Les!

I did, but just part of all.

Now my switcher starts 1st channel of SMS by putting ONAIR both SMS inputs.

How SMS recognize which channel it should to start, when I putting on ONAIR sources "srv1" and "srv2 in switcher"?

And one more question: does the Carbonite has limitations for duration of animation in MediaStore?

    Hi Ilya,

In the Config menu when you assign the AMP driver to the input you need to also press Next and assign the "channel".

What look like happened is that you have both Inputs assigned to channel 1.

    Thank you very much, Les!

I already have find it and now it works good!

One more question about Carbonite MediaStore: can I copy animation to internal storage of Carbonite from my USB or from my PC via FTP? I have connected to Carbonite via FTP with username "user" and password "password", but I haven't permissions for create folder and copy my animation!

My empressions from first usage and configuration of Carbonite studio is very good! I think that it will be very useful for our regions.

We have some limitations in SMS (no playlist), but I know that "blackstorm" has a playlist feature. I hope I'll come to IBC in this year and see it.

    Hi Ilya,

No the ftp connection allows you to drop files onto the USB or do Single still only files directly to the Media Channels. This is the Ram Cache and is not internal storage.

Use the USB as the "storage" then use FTP to connect to the USB drive and then you can drag and drop file there which can then be loaded into Ram Cache by the operator.

BlackStorms Playlists are very good, further what is really neat is that you can have the Carbonite learn the playlist name for recall in the Custom Controls. Then you can modify the playlists on the fly in BlackStorm.

So example would be that I would learn 5 playlists example is Pack A, Pack B, Pack C etc... Now I would load those one at a time and then make a Custom Control to learn the names so that it can cue these packages. Then every show I can change the playlist contents to what is needed for each of the packages. Now the operator just hits the macro called Pack A when the Director want to roll Pack A. This way you can create "mini" playlists of clips and change them on the fly to what you need and roll them from the switcher!

Can we use a USB memory all the time connected to the frame of the switcher and only drop and drag the files that I have to added, let me know what is the best method because considering the fragile that is the USB port I do not want to be ataching and deataching an USB Memory.

Let em know what is the best method

Hi Charles. Not really the correct thread for this question.

Yes leave the USB in the system and then transfer files via FTP over the network.
