Thanks redmile, I've watched the Transition Logic (XPression U) video on Youtube a few times, and I'm getting what you are referring to, and with that, I've been successful in setting up two different scenes to transition according to the rules/conditions I've set for each. Where I'm not having trouble is getting each scene to dissolve over one another without the lower third background transitioning, thus leaving the transition to look as if only the text dissolved in the transition. I attempted this by creating a scene director which only affects the alpha on the main text layer on the in and out, and when I point my rule to each of the scene directors the resulting transition causes the lower third animated background (which is the same for the two scenes I'm working with) to appear as if it cuts onto the screen. To explain simply:
Scene 1 (animated L3rd - 2 line text) >> dissolve >> Scene 2 (animated L3rd - 1 line text) = seamless background dissolve, changing only text
I feel like I'm overcomplicating things, but it may just be the way that I've interpreted the information in the Transition Logic video on Ross' youtube channel.
The second question - are there any other resources for explaining/learning the different methods for incorporating Transition Logic into a project?
