I need a quad to slant. The graphics I'm working with require an image to look like /_/ instead of |_|

My first preference would be to have the quad look like |__| and then just mask off the portions I need |/_/|, that way we can create images and not have to worry about them getting stretched strangely.

Second preference would be just to slant the quad, then as we build materials for it, know that it's going to be stretched all goofy.

    Any thoughts?

Link to a render of the full scene (no image) that I'm working with.

And I got it. I created a "mask" material, then just used a rotated quad on each side to clip the sides. Way easier than I thought it was going to be, and I feel a little dumb now. Ah well.

If anyone wants to see the object, let me know, I'll throw something up.

I was just wondering, if the object you put onto the quad has slanted sides, when you mapped it to the quad, only the object would appear, not the quad so it wouldn't matter if the quad was square or slanted. Or do you mean something else? We use slanted backgrounds for sponsor "bugs" and I've just dropped them onto the quad and that was all I had to do.

I think you're talking about the original image used being alpha'd out on the sides, which yes, would work.

However, I'm designing this for a newsroom installation, and the images/video added in will at best only be the same dimensions as the quad. There will be no masking done beforehand, this is just gonna be someone dropping an image into a template and calling it a day. You'd be amazed how fool-proof we have to design things, at times.

I used to work in a television station and I know EXACTLY what you mean.
