  • 1.  Scene Director Bug (With clips/animation)

    Anyone else get this bug?

Periodically, random clips/items in the scene director won't work correctly.

Example, i have a video file on track 1 in the scene director. It's a mask that masks off masks on.

I have this video on position 40. Normally, if I scrub from 0 -40, or any time before the clip starts, the scene should act as if the clip hasn't started yet.

However, I'm getting the opposite where if I scrub pre 40, it acts as if it's at the end of the clip.

So instead of getting blank image -> clip begins, I'm getting a full image -> clip begins.

This happens with other items too, such as animation controllers.

It's quite frustrating, since it seems like the only fix is to delete the layer and re set it up. This is damning if you have already set up intensive visual logic, since if you delete that object, all references are also deleted.

I have never heard of anyone having this issue before.
So if you save the project while it's in this bad state, reloading the project keeps it in this bad state? The only fix is to delete the object and start over? (Restarting XPression does not help?)
If that really is the case; please send us the project saved in this bad state and we can investigate.

Ive had issues with animation controllers who do not start at 0 and have a visibility keyframe set not recognizing the keyframe until the controller is engaged down the timeline. Of course, the whole point of animation controllers is to be able to move them around to create offsets easily, as re-positioning keyframes within a controller is maddeningly tedious especially when there are curves involved. My fix for this has been to create an animation controller called 'Visibilities', which starts at exactly 0, and putting all of my visibility toggles in that., but hold off on creating those toggles until you're happy with your timing. so you can not have to futz about re-positioning them as you dial in.

Yup, that's exactly it. Restarting doesn't help.

Unfortunately I have already fixed the scene by recreating it, but I have also done what willie describes before (which is a huge pita, and definitely not optimal when handing off the project for someone else to maintain).

I'll try to recreate the bug, how can I send the project to you?
