  • 1.  Datalinq Key in Sequencer group doesn't work => Looks like a bug

    Hello all,

In addition to my previous question I have run into another obstacle which seems to me to be a bug in XPression?

I'm using a group inside the sequencer which will play in loop and will show Election-results. To make my life a little bit easier, I have used a Datalinq-key to specify the table in which my data is found. In my Datalinq I put a query to select the order of the results.

When I test it in Edit Mode, everything is working fine. When I update the Datalinq-key, all the values update along. When I create the group with the Take Items which will play in loop, and I modify the Datalinq-keys for each individual Take Item, I can see in the list that the results are updated. However when I start the Crawl, I get the same results continuously. They are not even the results of the TakeItems in the group, but they are the results of the Template from Edit Mode.

So it seems that the Datalinq Key inside the Group of a crawl are not taken into account when the group is being played. It is replaced by the value from the template.

I've attached two screenshots to show that the values have been updated.
But when playing this group, the values are shown wrong.

    I'm using v7.1 build 3864

    Best regards,
    Kenneth

    Hi Kenneth,

This is resolved in version 8.5 and higher of XPression.

Thank you @bford. I noticed it indeed when I got the email from the Build System ;-)
I have to say I like the reactiveness at Ross!

I have another feature which would be very welcome to me (and to many other too), and I think it's not so difficult to implement.

In the Visual Logic Editor, when you copy blocks and paste them, it would be very useful to have the possibility to increment the blocks.
Similar to when you copy an animation controller where it also offers the option to increment the objects.

Quite often now, when I am doing big scenes with a lot of objects, I find myself losing a lot of time when I've copied logic and I have to replace all the elements one by one.

    Best regards,
    Kenneth
