The AVI files in the demo projects are using the XPression codec and the AVI wrapper. You should try running your AVI files through the XPression Video Coder and then importing them into XPression. You'll find that once the AVIs are run through the video coder they are much smaller.

With alpha : Animation Codec
The MOV file should then be run through the XPression Video Coder using the default settings to output an AVI file with the XPression (XPVC) format. Although the MOV files will play correctly in XPression, the files will operate more efficiently in XPression if run through the video coder.
