I set up a lower third with multiple layers for movement which works well and then created a full screen motion graphic that I am creating that the third will go over. When I do this, the the moving layers of the lower third 'interfere' with the motion of the background showing what looks like interlacing problems. I'm not sure if it's because they are on layers that are too close to each other? Any advice you can give for layering or making the most of render cycles or what might be going on here?

I also have a question about the sequence space. Are the graphic groups in the sequence area taking up any processing power or is it ok to leave previous groupings in there?

Can you provide a sample project showing this issue? Also what version and build are you running?

The Sequencer can easily handle thousands of take items. In the unlikely event you have issues contact Tech Support and they can have you adjust some settings or upgrade the software.

If your scene camera is an Orthographic Camera (2D), then you shouldn't see the z-tearing you describe. If however, your scene camera is a Perspective Camera (3D), then you will definitely see z-tears on co-planar faces.

There are 2 possible solutions to this. The easiest is to create an orthographic camera and make it the active camera in the scene, and will work so long as your scene doesn't require a 3D space. If it does, then offset the Z Postion of your layers by .5 or 1... juuuuust enough to keep them clear of one another without impacting the look
