  • 1.  Newbie Question: Does Expresion Capture HD-SDI?

    Posted 08-26-2015 20:31
    Hi All,

(I am sorry, but I'm just getting a first look as a user.)

I'd like to "live capture" the output of a Carbonite switcher. Hoping to turn that into a videoclip inside Expression CG (v5.5) to use as a Sequencer source. (sort of like a quick still store for moving video).

Or does Expression only Import video files?

    Thanks.

Add the AVI recorder framebuffer in hardware setup. Create a scene with a live source material of your SDI input on it. Put scene on AVI Recorder framebuffer. Record!

In V6 it's much much easier:

    Record Client

If you are using XPression Prime you wont be able to do SDI recording (in v5 or v6) without disabling your output.

If you have XPression Studio, you can also just create a live input material and use your live SDI input anywhere just like any material.

Thank you, Garner! I will attempt to try this out-- all good to know.

Did you mean SDI (which can sometimes mean SD) or HD-SDI ?

XPression has multi-format support. So SD-SDI and HD-SDI are supported.

You can even run multple formats at the same time on both inputs and outputs.
