  • 1.  Inconsistent dissolving between scenes?

I have set up two scenes, each with a simple quad with a different colored material on each. I set the In and Out transition to dissolve, and dropped each into the sequence. If I trigger each scene, they don't always dissolve....sometimes they cut to black between. It seems that the longer I wait between triggering each, the more likely the dissolve will happen. I have just been testing this on the Designer machine...not in the actual Studio machine in our truck, so that could come into play....is this normal? Or am I trying to do this wrong? it seems like a simple goal. I am going to go over to our truck with the Studio machine and test his later today, but I still feel like something isn't behaving correctly.

I have tried building a more complicated scene with Animation Controllers that dissolve the layer out, but the cutting still happens...sometimes. I have to demo this in a few days to prove to the director that we should switch to an Xpression for our production for in-house video boards at our hockey arena. Putting up a slew of still sponsor logos and dissolving between them is something we do quite a bit, and I hope I am just missing something simple.

    Xpression V6.2 build 3509

    Thanks!

What are the hardware specs, cpu, gpu etc, of the designer machine? Is this something you put together yourself or the hardware was purchased from Ross?
It sounds like what you are doing is simple enough; that the only explanation I can think of is that the machine is underpowered and it is dropping frames.
I would not expect you will have these issues on the studio machine.

Thanks for the quick reply....I got into our production truck this afternoon and tested on the Studio machine and everything seems to run smoothly as I would expect. It seems that the Designer computer (understandably) must not be able to handle it, as it isn't spec'd nearly as high as the Studio. Sorry for the false alarm!
