  • 1.  Choppy video animation and adding background to all full frames

    Hi!

I have a couple of questions:
I'm implementing some graphics and have some trouble with the full frame graphics not playing smoothly. From what I've read about exporting from After Effects to the XPression codec my files are set to 80% and have about 22.7 Mb/s as discussed in this thread: https://goo.gl/JduM2k
For the templates with only 1 video the performance still shoots ut to between 35-75%. I would think that it is a bit too high for only one clip playing plu some animation? These are the full frame graphics. The lower thirds can also get to abour 35% but they play smoothly.

As I've read on the forum Xpression does not do very well with more than two full frame videos playing at once so this might be the main issue, but I'm still wondering if anyone can see something else that causes this?

The second question is: I have around 30 different full frames (the customer does not have Datalinq so I made separate templates for the differet soccer lineups). They want the ability to have a solid background on the full frames. I'm looking for a way to do it without adding the elements and animation to all the templates, but rather trigger one template on a lower layer from all the full frame templates. Is this possible? I tried to make it work by putting a layer with only the backgorund on online before taking the full frame with a scene director trigger in it on air, but it did not animate in.

I've included some of my project. The scene FF RESULTS is the one I believe is most choppy, but I currently have 4 full frame videos in the scene director, with at text object linked via visual logic to decide wich of the four are visible. In the same scene I tried triggering the backgorund in the scene FF BKG. I also have a template called FF MATCH ID where I've put the solid backgorundin the scene witht the animation.
You can download the project package here: https://we.tl/TLZ9sQ92ce

Hoping someone can help me with understanding these issues further. Any alternate solutions are of course very welcome. Is there something I'm missing?

Thank you, and have a lovely day!

If you have four full frame videos contained within your scene---all four will count against the systems resources, even if they aren't visible. Select Tools menu, Debug, Video Cache Monitor and you should see all four videos. If you are good at scripting, you might be able to accomplish this selection of videos at the material level.

With visual logic you could flip out the materials as the playhead animates by using the greater than block and input selector.

In this example I placed 3 videos on the time line and this enables 2 changes but you can just keep adding to what I did to add more changes.

Thank you both, this helps with the choppy playout! I my case one Input Selector was enough, the user just types the number of lines that are desired visible and the corresponding video is linked to that number in the selector.

I think I should start another topic asking about the global full frame backgrond.

    Thanks again :)
