  • 1.  Lower third Christmas carol words for 'open caption'

The Utah Jazz will be hosting a singalong in a little over a week. The words to the Christmas carols need to be displayed in a lower third box via Xpression ala open captioning. 3 rows of text that will pause row by row as the song is sung limited to a box using a mask. I was planning on a text field of the lyrics with pauses. Any idea on an alternative way? Thanks again

Malcolm that is probably your best bet.

While it may be tedious, the most efficient option would probably be to overbuild this template with more pauses than necessary so you can paste in songs of differing lengths without having to change the template each time.

Andrew, thanks for the advice. I opted to make 4 line lower third text fields with fade in/fade out animations then just published the text fields so I could copy and paste the words. Works like a charm.

You might also want to look at the other thread on this forum called "data page transitions" where I just posted a sample that lets you use Data Pages to dissolve the text in a different lower third. You could make one template with your four lines of text in the sequencer; then have a number of different sequencer items that update the lyrics on each line. Then you can just advance through the sequencer with the "+" key on the number pad to change each line in succession.. Just another way to accomplish the same thing..
