Hi all

we used HD sever to play HD chanel.Signal pass through xpression.In HD sever we plug in a Genlock.so Do we need plug genlock to xpression.

Yes, the XPression should have the same genlock reference signal as the rest of the servers. This will ensure all video is timed the same.

Conected reference in port 6 of decklink studio breakout cable ?. I must install what for decklink card?. When signal pass through xpression it delay how many frame ?. my system is cab TV.When i used set-top-box to receive HD chanel so when signal get in or out xpression so monitor has black signal for 1/10 second.so i think has problem with reference.

Hi Lee,

Yes, reference on the DeckLink card is labeled as '6'. You must install the DeckLink drivers on the PC that the Decklink card is mounted in. When the drivers are installed you can monitor the cards reference under:

Start > Control Panel > BlackMagic Control Panel > Settings Tab > Set reference output timing

Here the BlackMagic control panel will state if the card is connected to reference or not.

Are you using XPression Prime software or XPression Studio?

If you are using XPression Prime you will not be able to do live DVE effects with the input video. You can still use the input video for live pass through keying.

You can see Prime vs. Studio specifications here: XPression Editions Matrix

If you are using Studio and use the input video for live DVE effects the delay will be 6-8 frames. If you are using the live input video for pass through keying there will be no delay.

Oh.i do it but it not effect.i must tell you that video in not pass through decklink port.

I bought xpression prime harware + soft. it have 4 sdi port (2video in +2video out) and 1 port for decklink

my video pass through sdi in port and out in sdi out port, and i conect reference in port 6 of decklink cab

I think reference just effect for signal in decklink cable.

Does your BlackMagic Control Panel say 'reference input detected' or 'reference input not detected'?

Lee, where are you seeing the black signal? The XPression Decklink output is going black?

The input you are using into the XPression is an HD set-top box? If it doesn't have reference it must be frame synced before being inputted to XPression.

i play video HD from Omneon Mediadeck sever with reference plugin.When i switching signal (in routing switcher) out or in xpression so my customer who pay for TV cab receive signal by set-top-box to display video in TV, black signal in 1/10 second.

Lee, does the entire Decklink output flash black or just the live video input source?
