I using Xpression 4.3 and I am have a problem with the Scene Manager Thumbnails. I cannot get them to generate at specific frame. I have set preview frame in the take Item menu on every page and still it defaults back to the first frame which is a black frame. Any help would be great, its getting really hard to sift threw hundreds of scenes when they are all black frames.

    Thanks

    Hi Derek,

This is probably due to the fact that your Preview-marker has not been set to the correct frame.

If you look inside the Scene Director you'll see on the track with all the framenumbers on it, that there's a marker with a "P" in it. That the Preview-marker. You can position this anywhere you like in the animation and it will show you that image in the Scene thumbnail window.

To set the Preview-marker, position your mouse inside the timeline-part of the Scene Director where you can see the framenumbers and right-click on the position where you would like to insert it. You'll see a popup stating "Set Preview frame at Position Marker".

When you did that, the Thumbnail should be updated automatically.

    Good luck,

    Kenneth

    Thanks Kenneth for your reply

I found this option in 5.11, but we use 4.3 on all our machines because of a 3rd party interface that is coded to that specific build. In 4.3 the markers are not in the scene director and the Scene Preview Frame does not seem to do anything.

    Thanks

In versions before the preview frame marker was introduced the scene thumbnail would be generated based on wherever you last left the Scene Director scrub tool. Scrub the scenedirector to the frame you want to use for the preview, then my trick was usually to just toggle the visibilty of any object in the scene manager off and on in order to force it to re-render the scene thumbnail.

The "preview frame" in 4.3 was only used by the sequencer to identify which frame should be used for the actual preview in the sequencer mode.
