This is probably (hopefully) an easy puzzle to solve around here, but if I have a scoreboard (for say, basketball) and I'm wanting to change a number (like the score) underneath an animation (like a mask), how would I go about that? The numbers would be coming in through DataLinq.

For example, if someone scores 2 points, I want the score to hold before changing so I can throw an animation, like a color splash, or having the new score scroll up to replace the old one, or fade on. That sort of thing.

    Any advice? Thaaaaanks!

It sounds like what you need to do is employ Transition Logic, this will give you the means to have additional instances of the scene in the sequencer to which you can make changes, and have whatever manner of transitional animation you like set off when you trigger the change

You might want to read through this thread: https://discussions.rossvideo.com/forum/default-forum-gc1/xpression-cg-and-graphics-system-gc12/4862-scoreboard-update-animation
There is a sample at the end of page 2 that shows how to attach scripting to a datalinq change to trigger animations etc..
