I apologize if this has already been discussed and I missed it. Is there a way for a mask to only effect one object and not everything that lives behind it?

Yes Bryan, there is. You need to use Layer Object. Include your mask and objects to mask as sub-elements of a Layer Object. This is a new feature of just released version 4.0 of XPression.

hello, my company just installed its "expression" its not the V4.0 but the 3.6

Is there a way to create a mask in that version, because we searched in a lot of way but we had to create one and import it from photoshop, and even with that method we have troubles having it interact with just a text object, and not the graphic supposed to hold the text even by playing with priorities or with depht (my english is awfull i am sorry).

Best thing to do is to try and get the upgrade to 4.0. It has a lot more new features and if you have recently purchased XPression then you are able to get the FREE upgrade.

Thanks i try to get the upgrade from the french retailer but my company think itd best to use a more old/stable version rather than risk to have lot of bugs on a new one. Thanx anyway and glad to be part of the community

Any tutorial on this subject would be greatly appreciated. I know there are 3 ways of dealing with transparency but I don't understand any of them. My teacher thought you need images with alpha but that is not true. Black and white PNG will do.
