Ok, so we fixed my last issue with an update, which is awesome, but now we have a site that has a scoreboard without any data output (helpful!) and we're going to try the Graphics Outfitters ScoreOCR to get a data feed. They even give you a 9-pin output option, so the theory is, it should work.

But, I'm less than thrilled with theories, I want to know if anyone has used this system before, and if you have, what did you run into to get it working? Or even, did it work?

Kev, XPression Datalinq would need to support the data protocol being output by the scoreboard. We need to write drivers for every scoreboard/protocol for communication to work.

Do you have a whitepaper for the data protocol that the Graphics Outfitter ScroreOCR is going to output?

According to their PDF they can output a "daktronics compatible" feed. The PDF can be found at http://graphicsoutfitters.com/pdf/ScoreOCR2012.pdf

XPression supports the 'Daktronics TV Data Feed' so if they are outputting that format we could read from it. Looks like they also support spreadsheet and database outputs, so we could read from those as well, as long as their system writes to the spreadsheet/database quickly enough for the clock.

I also see 'Datalink Text File' as an output option, but that might be referencing the Newtek Datalink and not XPression Datalinq.

Yes, that's correct, the Datalink they are referencing there is the Daktronics garbage. I'm thinking of heading over to film a scoreboard running through it's paces so that we'd have inputs for this and see if we can get it working, but again, I'm just wondering if anyone has ever used it.

So apparently the scoreboard is a FairPlay board. Have you managed to get that to work with Xpression?
