  • 1.  Same version different build... problem?

Hi there. About to start doing work for a client who has 7.1 build 3914. We have 7.1 but it is build 3951. I know sometimes trying to run a scene on an older version can be problematic, but if the version is the same with the difference being in the build, are we going have issues?

Neither of those are official released versions. Version 7.0 was an official release, as was version 8.0. 7.1 was only ever available to beta customers. It is possible that lots has changed between those specific versions; so we cannot officially state it will work though usually it is just fine. You can look through the change notes in your build 3951 to see what was added between 3914 and 3951 and if any new features we added, just make sure to steer clear of them.

Thanks Brian, that's was what I thought as well. Ultimately we got the client to upgrade their XPression, as the only sure fire way of not running into an obstacle with designer to client backward compatibility would have been to drop to a lower version than theirs and that would mean loosing my animation curve handles, which would send me into the night screaming, "Nooooooooooo!!!

oh wow, thanks for that! I knew I was the impetus behind the order of execution for VL checkbox, but I didn't know I influenced this. While we're on the topic though, it would be very cool if you could constrain the handle to one axis if you pull it out while holding shift. So say you are trying to dial in an ease and you want to keep the handle flat on Y but extend it on X. Holding shift while dragging the handle out on X would then would move said handle only on X while keeping it flat on Y, essentially the same as After Effects.

I have to say, I am very impressed with how responsive you guys are with user feedback, it;s a very rare thing. Much appreciation to you and your team for that, and for all the hard work you do to continually make XPression better and better.
