  • 1.  Is it possible to make Quads change to Picture Size

Is there a way to make a Quad change size to match the dimensions of the photo that is being inserted?

Like how it is right now, if someone loads a picture into a template, they either have to manipulate the size to match the bounding box or the photo has a black border or is distorted. Is there a way to make it so that it will manipulate it's dimensions to the size of the picture instead? I appreciate any help.

Yes, there is a way. I do it using Visual Logic. First of all, I have a quad that doesn't have a material assigned yet, and it's centred on the scene. For some reason, I have it with a width of 1 pixel and height of 900 (that's the max height I want, but I can't remember the reason for the width being 1 pixel because my max width is 1600). Those dimensions probably don't really matter with the Visual Logic setup I used. Then I have the quad set to auto size only on material assignment. The visual logic handles the sizing of the images so that they fill the max dimensions I want without being distorted.

See the attached screen shots for details. Please note that my picture scenes have an optional title, hence the selection box at the top left. This is also on XPression PRIME 6.5.

Set your quad at the maximum dimension you allow in X and Y. Disable autosize. Check the checkbox in order to respect ratio. In texture tab, choose border (or clamp, don't really remember right now). And tadam !

Border mode will fill the area with transparency (which is what you want). However I believe if you use a 24bit image file with no alpha channel, then it may get filled with black instead. The quick workaround for this is to set the quad to 99.9% transparency to force it to have an alpha channel; and then the border mode will fill with transparency instead of black.
