  • 1.  Update OS and Xpression - AJA IO XT stopped working

    Posted 01-04-2019 12:34
    Hello there!
Was just wondering if anyone have had the same issue...

We had Xpression Studio GO running on a ASUS ROG 175 JY on Windows 7. Xpression version was 6.5, and it had output through an AJA IO XT box (Thunderbolt connected).

However, we recently got Xpression v8, and with it, an upgrade to Win 10.
So, after installing WIn10, newest AJA drivers for the IO XT, and Xpression v8... I no longer get any contact with the AJA IO XT.
Like... None... I actually suspect this is a Win10/AJA issue, as when I run the diagnostics for AJA devices, none show up... And of course, no boards will show in Xpression then, but I'm just wondering if anyone out there have had similar experiences?

What version and build of XPression and what AJA drivers?
If you are on XPression v8 you should be using AJA driver 12.5.2. If you upgraded to the v14 driver from the AJA website that won't work.
Also after upgrading to XPression v8 and upgrading AJA drivers you need to reconfigure the hardware setup of XPression to use the new 'AJA NTV2' framebuffer instead of the 'AJA (legacy)' driver.

Although, if you can't see AJA in it's own tools or in device manager than of course you have other issues.
Are you powering up the AJA before powering up the laptop?
And then running the driver installers.

    Is Windows detecting unknown devices?

Aha! You put me on the right track there!
1: Tested with a BMD Thunderbolt recorder, and nothing happend, so turns out the Intel Thunderbolt driver did not work either, so that was issue one.
Connected devices now but still nothing in Xpression

2: Yes, the AJA driver was newer than 12.5.2, so when I got step one working, and read this about step 2, I downgraded to 12.5.2 and it works!

    Thanks for the help!
