I have several full frame graphics, that all use the same moving background, using a material with the video that is set to autostart, freerun and loop.
Each scene has a scene director that brings in the moving background and pauses, then we cue in as required bringing in the rest of the content. There is an out scene director that fades/moves stuff out of the way but leaves the moving background untouched. There is transitional logic set up to run the appropriate scene directors.
I occasionally get a flash frame on the background however. Am I doing this correctly in order to keep a moving background effectively online the entire time? Or should I move this background into a scene of its own, and have it at a lower level in the sequencer with everything else sitting on top? Rather not do it that way as it's an extra scene to manage bringing on and off!

Should work the way you have it set up...I assume if you run the moving background by itself, there's no flash frame?

Yeah, the background loops seamlessly.

Have you tried unchecking "autostart"?
I believe the free running option tells the video to continually play...which allows multiple scenes to access the material and they will always be in sync, which sounds like the behavior you are looking for.
If you have auto start checked on as well, it may be competing, as it will try to start your clip again from the beginning if the scene goes online, which will make it out of sync. Likewise, if you have the clip on the scene director it may be competing, as you are telling the clip to play there as well...
Not sure if this will work for you, but it's worth a try!!

Do you have the video on your scene directors?

I don't have the material playing in any scene directors, and if I have autostart turned off, the background doesn't move at all, which means I need to either add it to a scene director, or write some script to get it going.
The flash only happens occasionally, and looks like a flash to black rather than missing a frame of the moving background.

Hmmm...another shot in the dark. Did you have to change the frame rate of the original deliverable?

When you had it autostart did you have Sync to Clock ticked as well as free running?

I didn't, but I do now, and I still get the occasional flash.

I think the flash is more than just the background as it seems to be the entire content that flashes as well. I have script in the OnPreview event, and I think the issue is there. Is code at that point executed in the render thread, as the background can pause at times whilst executing the preview code?
It's a big project Red, may need to make a distilled version to highlight the issue.
