  • 1.  Daktronics All Sport CG into Datalinq & Expression

Hoping someone has run into this same problem I am having. We are sure the data is coming in from the scoreboard console in the arena into the All Sport CG. When I go to add it in the Datalinq area, it cannot pull up the data. Anyone have any tips? I have checked device manager, the serial cable is showing up in one of the Ports. I have my port settings right. For whatever reason, it will not pull the data into datalinq. Thanks

    - after you add a Daktronics source to the Datalinq Server do you see anything in the Datalinq log? (Datalinq Server > Windows > Log Window)

    - have you tried different sports in the daktronics setup?

    - what version and build of XPression - more Daktronic sports have been added in newer versions

    - Can you see data on the port if you run a program like Hyper Terminal or TeraTerm?

    - have you followed everything in this doc: XPression Serial Scoreboard Setup

    Garner,

Yes there is info in the data log. Says server started listening and port 3 got an error message.

Yes I have tried football, basketball and volleyball.

I have the Studio v6.0, just updated it on Friday.

Yes. I can see the data running in the Daktronics Data Monitor

Yes I followed all steps on pdf. I have it running through the serial port of back of Xpression.

I have stumped two Ross Support techs as well. Thanks for your time

    What is the error message?

Can you capture the data that is running to the serial port and provide it to us?

When your All Sport CG starts up it will display it's firmware version, it should be something like 2.5 or 2.7. What firmware is yours running?

Have you tried disconnecting your All Sport CG from the All Sport Controller and seeing if you can get data from the All Sport CG when it runs in manual mode?

How long is the cable between the All Sport CG and the serial port on the back of the XPression?

    Garner,

We are having the same issue with a Daktronic All Sport CG as listed above. We have 2 All Sports CGs with an older (firmware 2.2) one working correctly with Xpressions 5.7 and Datalinq Daktronics Basketball (Rev 1).

Our new one (firmware 2.9) works with the volleyball protocol, but not basketball. The Datalinq log window error we get is "Rx: Checksum error, flushing buffer".

Could it be the difference between the firmware versions?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Jim

Daktronics changed the basketball protocol in version 2.9 of the Allsport CG (to add a new Timeout clock as required by the NBA). You will either need to downgrade the Allsport CG, or upgrade XPression to version 6.0 build 3323, or 6.1 build 3413 or higher, which includes support for the new protocol (Basketball Rev 2). Note that if the Allsport is downgraded, you'll want to go to version 2.5 or below.

    Thanks Brian,

Awesome information. That's what my assumption was. I have already emailed Daktronics support to see how to go about downgrading our firmware.
