Hi Everyone,
I'm working on building a hockey score interface in Dashboard for use with Xpressions, and I just wanted to share it with everyone.
http://captaingraphics.net/download/hockey-scoreboard-dashboard-grid/
Update: Video demo showing the capabilities of this grid file:
https://vimeo.com/120733738
If you're not familiar with dashboard, it's a free program available from Ross and is mainly used to monitor and control routers and other OpenGear devices on your network. And it can also be used, along with Datalinq, to control Xpression. (Check out DashBoard U for more information)
Now this file is free for you to use and modify, however I make no guarantees! Consider it a learning tool to see how DashBoard Can be used with Xpression in a sports setting.
It's still a work in progress, and I'm letting you know that I am in no way a coding expert. So a lot of the code is quite clunky. If there are any JavaScript wizards out there, please feel free to work your magic.
Some features:
- The usual timer, score, shots on goal, team names, etc.
- Also includes ability to add penalties: will automatically calculate if it's a powerplay, 4 on 3, 5 on 3, etc. (Thanks to James Peltzer
@jamespeltzer for his help with these!)
- Ability to enter team rosters and then select the names from a drop-down, so you can get that super up quickly. (Big thanks to Troy English
@troyenglish over on the DashBoard forum for his help on that one!)
Known Issues
Some issues that I'm not sure how to fix. Any help is appreciated:
- Penalty labels may not change until timer starts running
- Dropdowns will not populate unless players, coaches, and goalies have been modified (at least 1 from each)
- Dropdowns may not populate Datalinq right away, you'll have to select another name first
Once again, This is still very much a work in progress. I'm not offering any support for this file, but am open to any feedback. This file is being given out with the assumption that you will have at least a basic knowledge of DashBoard, Xpression, and Datalinq. If you need to get caught up on any of those, once again check out DashBoard U, and Xpression U. (There are also a lot of good Datalinq videos here:
http://xpression.rossvideo.com/videos/)
Please feel free to share any revised versions here, I'm hoping that together we can come up with something really useful!
