Here is what I am trying to do:
I want my producers who sit in on broadcasts to be able to copy chat questions from an online video conference software, and be able to paste them into a file. Then, when they save the file, I have an immediate new CG title card that contains the text from the chat question. I can then TAKE that graphic to PREVIEW, so only my talent sees it, and they can then address the question live, at that moment, during the broadcast.
I ran some tests with an Excel file, and was kind of able to make it happen. There was inconsistent behavior in the timing of the updates. I didn't really know when/if the graphic was going to update. Wasn't sure if I needed to take it offline first, etc.
Appreciate any advice and tips. Also, is there a stable way to do this by just hosting a file (XML, or other) on a web page? Can I reliably have my producer update this file online (not on the LAN) and get the behavior I'm looking for?
