    Hi,

I have been experiencing Xpression crashes almost everyday lately during the normal building process. I recently upped the cache limits because I was experiencing too much of a delay in calling up scenes, but now its freezing and crashing pretty often. Could the higher cache settings be causing this? if so, Is there an optimal setting for cache limits that will meet my needs but not cause Xpression to crash? Please help.

    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi Don,

You can't increase the cache size of XPression - it is set by the OS and XPression software and is not configurable. The memory and video cache settings you are referring to are actually how much memory an individual client (a single video or image) will use in the total cache.

Therefore increasing the size the client will use in the cache can actually very negatively impact the XPression engine performance - as the cache will fill faster and be harder to clear.

Further, when running on Windows 7 64 bit it should not be necessary to make changes to the default cache size.

If you really want to try making changes to the cache I would recommend setting the image client memory cache limit to 128MB and the video client engine memory limit to 30MB.

All that said - if you are having problems with the XPression software crashing you should reach out to technical support (techsupport@rossvideo.com) so they can determine what is causing the crashes. They can then recommend a software upgrade or replicate your crashes and have any bugs fixed by the development team.
