  • 1.  Expression CG with Carbonite Solo - DataLinq?

    Hi there!

I was just wondering... With the Carbonite Black Solo, you get Xpression CG (the very lightweight version of Xpression), and while I would love to get the full Xpression options, budget limits us to what we get with our mixer atm.
Now, the Xpression CG will work nice for some player statistics etc (sports team), and other lower thirds. I can of course make all the lower thirds with all the names in advance, but what I really want is to send the information from DashBoard to Xpression through DataLinq. I was just wondering, is this included in the version of Xpression CG, or does this come as extra?

Just so simplify: With Expression CG that follows the Carbonite Black Solo, can I pass parameters from DashBoard to Xpression CG with DataLinq? Or will this cost extra?

I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the Datalinq license. Someone from Ross would have to comment though since they'd know best.

XPression LiveCG, which ships for free with all Ross Video Carbonite Switchers is actually XPression Designer.

XPression Designer has a framebuffer that can send a single graphic frame to a Carbonite Media Store - for basic static on screen graphics.

XPression Designer includes the XPression Datalinq option for FREE. XPression Designer can be used to create graphics that connect to data sources via the XPression Datalinq Server.

Therefore LiveCG (Designer) can connect to external data sources and use the external data in static graphics.

If you upgrade to XPression Prime or XPression Studio for SDI video support (motion graphics) you will ALSO need to purchase the XPression Datalinq option if you want to use external data sources in your graphics coming from XPression Prime or XPression Studio.

You CANNOT use or transfer the LiveCG (Designer) license to enable Datalinq on XPression Prime or XPression Studio. You must purchase the XPression Datalinq option for Prime or Studio.

Please let me know if you have questions!

    Thank you!

That is somewhat what I gathered from testing with Designer myself. Just had to be sure what the CG version was.

I really want the motion designer in the future, but for now, this will have to do I suppose! Thanks!
