    Right...

So I am studying this reference package we were given with a bunch of scripted elements, and I thought I would look at the script editor, evoke different states with the numbers in the text objects of the object manager, see what that state was meant to change in the hierarchy and then seek out said object to see the effect of said change.

    HOWEVER...

The scripts for the most part don't seem to do anything in Layout... I can only see their effects if I load the scene into Sequencer, and that is not particularly helpful, and seems like it would make the task of building and troubleshooting scripts tedious and difficult. Is there something I am missing, or is this working as intended?

    Thanks

you can place a script on a scene director so that it runs at a particular time in the animation. look for a brown/orange event on the timeline of the scene director
