  • 1.  Xpression PBUS on SONY MVS-8000... Please fininsh the job ROSS !!!

I have been testing Xpression PBUS with a SONY MVS-8000 switcher. I can honestly say this is the best implementation of PBUS I have ever seen!!!
I give bigtime kudos to ROSS for such a forward thinking implementation of PBUS.

If ROSS doesnt change a thing then XPBUS still rocks but I have a hopeful feature request: SONY supports 250 PBUS registers but ROSS XPBUS allows switchers to break the 250 PBUS register barrier with clever usage of PBUS Triggers 11 and 12 (they act as math operators).

I am currently able to use up to 299 XPBUS triggers which is awesome but now like any other TD worth their salt - i want MORE POWERR !!!

ROSS - please activate XPBUS Triggers 13, 14, and 15 so that non ROSS switchers can access up to 599 XPBUS registers.
Its great for individual PBUS device-register management and allows TDs to have all their XPBUS events in an entirely separate number range for all their legacy PBUS registers which are scattered in the range of 1-250.

Lastly, I just want to say "Thank you" to ROSS. Xpression is now the BEST companion of ANY switchers

    Hi Robert,

Thank you for the compliments on the PBUS interface. It is a real shame that some switchers limit their PBUS interfaces to less than the full 4095 registers that the PBUS protocol allows for.

Are you using a recent version of XPression; i.e. one that comes with the PBUS Manager? It does allow you to load/save PBUS assignment maps to a file on disk so you can quickly swap out from one show to another.

We will add Trigger 13,14,15 and those will be available in the next major XPression release.

    Bford,

I use Xpression 6.1. I suppose one can go that route but simpler is always better - especially when others need to troubleshoot or modify something.
I wonder how many frames are required to load a pbusmap file... hmmm... I will try that tomorrow while timing it... that's very interesting but I don't like adding frames to my events... time will tell.

Would it be possible to make Trigger-15 additive, meaning each time the switcher sends a Trigger-15 command XPBUS interprets it as "PLUS 100" ?
That way any switcher can have access to the 4000+ registers within Xpression.

    Man I'm greedy ;>

It would also be nice to see which PBUS file is currently loaded as well. I cant tell which PBUS file is currently loaded by looking at the PBUS UI.
