  • 1.  Laptop with Xpressions - No video output to Framebuffer 1 - No datalinq access

    Posted 03-04-2015 17:32
I'm prepping for a BBall game for this Friday and both our engineer and I are having troubles with xpressions. Perhaps both problems are related. I'm trying to get datalinq going to run the scoreboard but the Datalinq Manager is grayed out.

Our engineer is also having a hell of a time getting xpressions to output video.

I ran xpLicenseReader and it said no dongle was found even though It's plugged into the side of the laptop. Any advice on how to troubleshoot this?

If the Datalinq Manager is grayed out in whatever edition of XPression you have (Prime or Studio?) then you do not have the Datalinq License.

Right click on the License Reader icon and select 'Run as Administrator'. That should get it to work.

Can you give us more detail about what problem you are having with the XPression video? What type of hardware? What version and edition of software? What the hardware setup page is displaying?

For urgent support please reach out to Tech Support.

It's Xpressions Studio v5.5 2722. We're running on a Mac laptop running windows 7. I can't seem figure out how to right click to run as administrator. Does the fact that Xpressions starts up mean that the dongle is being read? Or should it run but have limited features or something like that?

As for the output issues, the engineers are pulling out their hair working on it and they don't want anymore interruptions. They've officially kicked me out. I guess I was just curious if the issues could be related since apparently both are new issues.

Right clicking in Windows on a Mac will depend on your bootcamp version and settings. Usually if you click the track pad with two fingers it will be a right click. Check your bootcamp control panel. It might also be Fn + Click, CMD + Click, or Fn + F10.

If Studio launches and your Datalinq is greyed it's almost certain that you don't have the Datalinq license on your Studio dongle.

It's not likely the two issues are related.

For your video output issue: Do you have the matrox card in hardware setup? Have you set the output format of the Matrox card? Does the Matrox card show that it has locked to reference?

Okie Dokie. The engineers worked out their problems. I've begun to sort out solutions to my issues. Thanks so much for your help!

Since you are using a laptop with XPression; I am going to guess you are using an AJA IOXT for outputting video and not a matrox card. For reference and for anyone else reading this; you need to be using AJA driver version 10.3.5.25. Contact Ross Tech Support if you don't have that driver version.
